After being accepted into an continent wide fashion show for young couturiers, Sheryl decided to present a line of original designed silk garments. Having heard of the art of silk painting, she researched
the process and after much experimentation began making her own dyes and got the clothing line finished.

Painting soon lead to teaching and teaching soon lead to a demand for the Opulence Dyes she used, which lead to doing mail order, that lead to selling more products, which lead to moving to a larger
location and hiring more employees. And although Opulence was always in a tucked away location the business grew rapidly through both visitors and mail order. Over the years teaching formally and
informally became a major focus and remains so today. It seems that everyone who experiences the flow of dye on fabric is fascinated. Adults love it and it has become a favorite art form in many schools.
The many levels of fabric decoration and dyeing have also made it a successful addition to all types of therapy programs.

From its inception in a small studio the business grew to a larger location and is now housed along with Sheryl and sidekick, Muffie the cat, in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, BC, Canada. Sheryl, Muffie and
students find the view a great inspiration for catching mice or painting and decorating fabrics.
