Reactive "MX" Dye
Use on...
All natural fibers, even wood, feathers and paper.
About Them...
Formally known as Procion MX Dyes, Reactive "MX" Dyes are a tested favorite for all natural fibers. Chances are if you have cotton clothing hanging in the
closet, or towels hanging in the bathroom, they have been dyed with Procion Dye. These are a Fiber Reactive Dye, they have excellent resistance to light, washing and dry cleaning. The
dyes are available in 32 colours which may intermixed for an endless variety. The colour can range from light pastel to deep or vibrant depending upon the amount of dye powder used.
Great Because...
They are so versatile and really excel in getting good colour onto cotton in every way possible. They are our favorite for all types of immersion dyeing (clothes, yardage, tie dye and
batik). So easy to do.....just use lukewarm water.....no pots on the stove! When all is said and done, regardless of what you are doing, there's a way to do it with Reactive "MX" Dye.
What You Need For Immersion Dyeing...
- To dye clothes and yardage or do immersion tie dye or batik .....Dye plus non iodized pickling salt, Sodium Carbonate fixer and TNA Detergent. Use Glauber's Salt instead of pickling salt for Turquoise and its mixes. To dye wool, white vinegar is used instead of Sodium Carbonate to fix the dye and Wool Assist SBS is added.
What You Need To Make a Thin Painting Solution...
- The dye plus "chemical water" made from Urea, Ludigol, Water Softener and Sodium Carbonate fixer .....or a package of our Premixed Chemicals to add to a liter of water. Use TNA Detergent for the final washout.
What You Need To Make a Printing Paste...
- The same "chemical water" ingredients as for a thin solution plus a Sodium Alginate thickener.
