About Immersion Dyeing

Opulence Reactive Dyes
Surface application dye manufactured for silk painting but also works well on any natural fabric. May be thickened for block printing or silkscreening. Fixed by steaming or in the microwave. Sold in a
ready to use liquid form.

Opulence Acid Dyes
For all protein fabrics: silk, wool, feathers, etc. Used for immersion dyeing, may also be fixed in the microwave. Sold in powdered form.

Reactive "MX" Dye
Formally known as Procion MX Dye. For all natural fibers. Used for immersion and surface applications
. Especially good on cottons. Fixed in the dye bath when immersion dyed. Fixed by steaming, batching or in the microwave for surface applications. Sold in powdered form.

Reactive "H" Liquid Dye
Formally known as Procion H liquid Dye. Surface application dye. May be used on all natural fibers. Must be combined with "chemical water" before use. Sold in liquid form. Fixed by steaming.

Japanese Deluxe Acid Dye
For protein fibers and fabrics. This is a kimono silk dye, we use it for Rozome (Japanese wax resist). The colour remains clear through multiple layers. Fixed by steaming. Sold in liquid or powered form.

Orient Express Dye
Made by Pebeo, from France. Use on protein fibers and fabrics for all surface applications. Sold in liquid form. Fixed by steaming or in the microwave.

Synthetic Indigo
Brewed in a vat dye bath with chemical assistants. Best on cellulose fabric (cotton). Sold in powered form. Fixes in the dye bath.

Pebeo Soie Dye
Made by Pebeo, from France. Use on protein fibers and fabrics for all surface applications, especially silk painting. Sold in liquid form. Fixed by steaming or in the microwave.

Setasilk Silk Paint
Not truly a dye but a finely ground pigment made especially for silk painting. Quick and easy to use.
Heat fixed by ironing, but also may be fixed in the oven. We have even used a hair blow dryer to fix painted umbrellas. Setasilk also works on cottons. Sold in liquid form.
