About Marbling...
The name is marbling because the designs are reminiscent of the swirls of colour in marble stone. Basically, the paint colours are floated on the surface of a thickened liquid called
size. The floating paints are swirled into patterns, then treated fabric or paper is laid over the paint to print the design. The design adheres to the fabric
in seconds. It's easy to do, great fun for kids and safe! Looks like hours of work...but takes minutes!
About them...
Companions...
Pre washed fabric is soaked in an Alum and water mixture and allowed to dry. To make the size use a thickener mixed in water. The Advanced Marbling Base is ready to use in an hour. See Advanced Marble Base Mixing Instructions.
Drop the colours gently onto the size and then use hair picks, knitting needles or wooden skewers to swirl the paints into a design. The Colourless Extender is used to make
non-coloured areas in the design, to mix with other colours for pastels or to mix with colours to assist them in floating. Alum and Marbling prices are listed with the marbling
paints, click navigation button below.
How To Fix Them...
The fabric is rinsed briefly after printing, laid out flat to dry, then dry ironed 3 minutes to fix. Wait a week before washing.
