Procedure for Direct Application...
Step 1. Measure all the dry ingredients into a glass or plastic container. Step 2.
Add the warm water, stir until dissolved. Solutions will store up to one week in the fridge, but are brightest for the first two days. Step 3.
Apply the dye colours liberally to damp fabric using brushes, squeeze bottles or spray bottles. Step 4.
Choose a fixation method, then wash the fabric, instructions following.
Fixation Methods...
Method 1. Place the tied fabric in a plastic bag, seal. Leave 24-48 hours at room temperature or 4 hours near a radiator or other warm place. Method 2. Wrap the tied fabric in blank newsprint and steam 10 minutes in a vegetable steamer, make sure the water does not splash onto the fabric. Method 3. Wrap the tied fabric in blank newsprint and bake in an oven 5 minutes at 285º F (140º C). Method 4.
Seal the wet tied fabric in microwave safe plastic or saran wrap, (may be sealed in a Pyrex bowl). Microwave on high about 5 minutes. Be sure the package stays sealed. Be sure all materials are microwave safe.
Washing Instructions...
Step 1. Rinse the tied fabric well in cool water, continue rinsing while undoing the ties, then rinse until the water runs clear. Rinsing may be done in a washing machine. Step 2. Fill a basin with
hot water and 1 tsp. (5 ml) of TNA detergent, continue washing and rinsing until the water runs clear. Hot water washing may be done by machine. Step 3. Dry the fabric, preferably in a dryer.
