Silk Painted Charity Banners
Sheila Keltie is a parent volunteer at the
R.C. MacDonald Elementary School in Coquitlam B.C., Canada. The eight wall hangings were created by the Grade One and Grade two students to help raise money for a local hospital. Raffle tickets were sold and over $1,400.00 was raised.
The theme for the students was "weather" and "seasons". The students drew pictures and Sheila transferred them to the silk and did the gutta outlines. The students painted their pictures and the border
design.
Sheila used Silk Habotai, Setasilk Silk Paint and Pebeo Water Based Gutta to create the hangings. They were bound with black silk.

Sheila notes "it is fun to see the kid's faces light up when they look at the beautiful results of their efforts." She also extends a thank you to Opulence for the guidance in choosing appropriate
materials for the project. We agree they did a wonderful job - can you imagine just 6 and 7 years old!!!
