Photocopy Transfer Paper

Instructions For Photocopy Transfer Paper

Product Information...

Paropy transfer paper is easy to use with a domestic home iron. The paper is a transparent medium which allows overprinting images for layering. It is compatible with most colour laser copiers and colour laser printers.

Fabrics...

Paropy is best used with white or light coloured fabrics. Cottons, cotton/poly blends, nylon and fine canvas are all good. The transfer process requires a high temperature so care would have to be taken to not scorch silks. Protect the silk with plan paper over the transfer paper and replace if it scorches.

Optimum results are obtained on smooth textured fabrics.

Paropy will also transfer to handmade papers, wood and other semi-smooth and flat objects.

Making The Photocopy...

    1. Place the Paropy paper in the bypass tray, positioned to copy onto the coated side.

    2. Align original on copier. Use the mirror image function if a right reading image is desired.

    3. Set copier to plain paper/standard copy mode, the same as regular bond paper. Xerox DocuColor40 runs in heavy stock mode.

    4. For dark originals reduce toner levels and lighten exposure level for a more accurate image.

    5. For clear areas use the background elimination function or designate "no-colour".

    6. Press copy, or output via computer interface to copier.

    7. Many small images may be set up to be copied onto one sheet of transfer paper.

Equipment and Materials...

    1. A wrinkle-free pillowcase and a hard surface that is low enough to allow downward pressure.

    2. An iron.

    3. Scissors.

Photocopy Transfer Preparation...

    1. Trim off any unprinted areas of transfer paper from around the image.

    2. Set the iron to the highest temperature, preheat for 5 minutes. Do not use steam.

    3. Place the wrinkle-free pillowcase on a hard surface such as a table or countertop. Do not use an ironing board. The surface should be low enough to allow downward pressure onto the iron with your full upper body weight.

    4. Iron any wrinkles from the fabric to be printed and place it on the pillowcase.

    5. Position the transfer, image down, onto the fabric to be printed.

Ironing Instructions...

    1. Pressing should be done by an adult to ensure heavy pressure. Press with arms straight using full upper body weight.

    2. Firmly press the preheated iron onto one end of the transfer and hold for 5 seconds.

    3. Move the iron approximately 3" and repeat the 5 second press.

    4. Make sure each 5 second press overlaps the previous one and all edges of the transfer are firmly pressed.

    5. Continue to move the iron 3" and press 5 seconds. An 8 ½ X 11" image should be pressed about 3 minutes. Reheat the entire image then peel the transfer off. If the paper sticks reheat the image.

Washing Instructions...

Ironing with heavy pressure ensures good wash fastness.

Leave the printed fabric for at least 24 hours before washing.

Wash the garment inside out in cool or warm water. Do not use bleach or detergents with bleach additives. Do not use fabric softeners, including Bounce sheets in the dryer. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low. Do not dry clean.

Do not iron directly on the image, iron from the back side.
